VAT Guard — Privacy Policy

What this app is

VAT Guard produces advisory EU VAT and One-Stop-Shop (OSS) reports for a merchant: it groups sales by EU destination country, watches the €10,000 union OSS threshold, and flags where collected VAT looks lower than the destination country's standard rate. It is advisory only — it never files and never pays anything on the merchant's behalf.

What data we access

With the merchant's permission the app reads order data (order totals, tax amounts and the destination country) in order to build these reports. It reads this in real time when the merchant opens the dashboard or exports a report.

What we store

We do not persist any order data. We store only a review-prompt counter and the Shopify session record needed to keep the app installed. We do not store customer names, email addresses, shipping addresses, payment details, or any other customer personal data.

Data retention and deletion

When a merchant uninstalls the app we remove the shop's stored records. We also honour Shopify's mandatory data-request, customer redaction and shop redaction webhooks.

Third parties

We do not sell, rent or share merchant or customer data with third parties. Data is processed only to provide the app's functionality.

Not tax advice

VAT rates and thresholds are indicative and can change. VAT Guard's output is informational and must be confirmed with a qualified accountant before filing.
